[ Stale toast on mouth, messenger bag on side, package on an arm, skateboard on feet. Caelus rolls through the streets, parkouring against debris and broken roads. He sped away from maybe two or three mutant creatures along the way, leaving them in the dust. He has better business to focus on.
When the trailblazer arrives at Megumi's dorm, instead of going through the front door like a sane person, he decides to scale the walls instead. The emergency staircase and ladders are right there, it's faster… Soon enough, he finds the right room, and peeks through from the window. He knocks at the glass gently, then waves enthusiastically whenever he's seen. ]
[ It's impressive timing on his part (or just very lucky), since Megumi doesn't spend a lot of time actually in the rooms. He goes elsewhere to train, he goes on supply runs, he hits the library...he's usually got a long to-do list.
But today that list happened to include going through a few more of the dorm rooms and adding anything that might be important to the stash downstairs, where it's more readily on hand, so he's in one of the rooms, checking the mini-fridge to see if anything's been left inside --
-- and he nearly drops the bottle of tea when he turns to check the noise, and sees Caelus waving through the window. ]
[ Hm. Well, it's bad in the sense that if you don't have a place to sleep and you want to have one, that kind of sucks, but the way Noah's asking sounds more like -- ]
Do you mean as a value judgment? Because it shouldn't be, but a lot of people do treat it like one.
[ — a first name, salient. Natural. Less predisposed to formality than his secret upbringing might suggest. It's not as though Subaru hasn't looked for him in the Murmur before, but this particular weave of emotion is potent, closer. Chosen. He's laid low since that first week, allowed the dust of their tethering to settle.
But he can't pretend as though it doesn't exist entirely. ]
[ Megumi's not sure if he appreciated or resented the distance, all things considered. The circumstances of their tether -- and the other person involved -- left him with a lot of things to think about.
But thinking about it is one thing. Wrapping his mind around it is something else. ]
( This just in: a Murmur-assisted image of the world's most adorable Sleep-hosting terrier pupper, vine tendrils and excitement bursting out of her eyes and tail, a PEPPER tag legibly front and center on her fungus-emaciated colour. )
Why, Fushiguro-kun. I don't suppose there's room in your home and heart for one more.
( It had taken time to get to the point where he could follow up on it, but Agent Choi had listed Megumi as a recommendation. It isn't the first time he's heard that name, either— thinking back on his time trying to get used to the murmur, he recalls that Ivan had uttered it in thank you to a young man who had gathered much information. In other words, this Megumi guy wasn't just his age, but he was competent.
It's a saving grace in a place like this. And so, though Guren takes his time, after the scare that was the mild succumbence Choi had to help him with, he knows he needs to reach out.
That's why he's rapping his knuckles against the door to Megumi's room, this fine evening. He's clean, at the very least, after all of his fighting and carrying bloodied bodies, thanks to the hotel and its showers, and dressed in a uniform that looks rather military. Whenever Megumi answers, he offers a polite bow of his head, just enough to be formal. )
Hey. ( His speech less so. He figures he doesn't have to worry about that, right now. ) I heard there was someone my age who knew what he was doing around here. Got told I should come say hello.
Megumi doesn't recognize this guy, which in combination with someone sending him here, presumably means he's one of the new arrivals. It had been enough of a clusterfuck down in the tunnels that he's not surprised he didn't get a look at everyone. ]
I'm going to take a stab into the dark here and guess they weren't sending you to see Yuji. [ Since Yuji's an idiot (affectionate). ]
I'm Megumi Fushiguro. [ He takes a step back from the door. ] Come on in.
I guess I probably should've told him to begin with, but...I don't know. It feels kind of weird to start a conversation just to go "by the way, dating now."
[ ...it's not weird, Megumi, telling your friends about your personal life is the most normal conversation ever, but he's a private person who normally lives surrounded by busybodies. ]
[ one day, in front of the door to his dorm room, Megumi will find a gift. a proper gift: it's even in a box, with wrapping paper and ribbon tied around it, made into a bow on the top. the wrapping paper does seem to be homemade, and it's rather crinkled, but it's clear a lot of effort went into it. the tag on one loop of the bow, in Lortel's recognizable handwriting, says only Megumi's name. (next to it, she's drawn a little heart.)
when he opens it, he'll find within a plushie of a wolf. jet black, except for a red marking on its forehead. this mark, too, seems to have been somewhat inexpertly added with paint, but it's there.
it's Kuro, of course. or rather, clearly meant to be a (hopefully decent) facsimile of the shikigami, anyway.
she isn't there to see his reaction to it. she didn't do it to see the look on his face, after all.
but she remembered the other plushies in his room, and hoped this would make him smile. ]
[ Given her low-key approach to delivery, he opts for a low-key response and doesn't call her out on it. But Kuro finds himself a place of honor on the shelf with the others, right next to Shiro's doppelganger.
And if the right opportunity arises, he might bring up the idea of giving Shiro the mark to match... ]

Can you make me soup when you get back? I still feel sick.

[ He's already doing a mental rundown of what he's got stashed away in terms of food, and while it won't be amazing soup, it's definitely doable. ]
